THE carnage left by the council contractors who cut the grass on the estate where I live is worse than anything that fly tippers could do to us.

Grass cuttings, weeds and dog muck are thrown everywhere and just left to rot - often taking on a new life either in your home (carried there on someone's shoes) or in the gardens of people who take a great deal of pride in their patch.

It is no wonder that youngsters seem to show no respect for council estates when the people who have been elected to look after them could not care less.

I have complained to the powers-that-be only to be told 'You're lucky it's not windy'.

M Rankin, Carnforth.
