FEMALE motorists in Clitheroe got all in a lather when they received an added bonus with their car wash.
They not only got a gleaming car, but also the pleasure of a half-naked rugby player doing the scrubbing and polishing.
The service was set up at Clitheroe Rugby Club on Saturday to raise funds for the club and Pendle Pre-School, which is based at the club every morning.
Although the car wash was cut short because of the cold weather, rugby player Phil Isherwood and Rob Stevenson and Rick Pallister, who have children at the pre-school, managed to boost the coffers.
A fun day also took place throughout the afternoon to raise money for the two organisations.
Maria Bird, fund-raiser for the pre-school, said: "I wanted to do something a bit different to raise money and I came up with the idea of a topless car wash after seeing something similar on an American website..
"We bribed the men with a half of lager and a hot dog and they agreed to do it.
"Most of the money raised on the day will go towards buying a noticeboard cabinet with a glass front which can be used by both the pre-school and the rugby club.."
The car wash was sponsored by Ribble Valley Ford dealer Rufus Carr Ltd.
There was also a barbecue, raffle, balloon race, stalls, a bouncy castle, and a disco.
