Haslingden hope to have Justin Kreusch available as a sub pro after his match-winning performance in yesterday's semi-final at Nelson.

Blackpool's South African pro scored 79 of his side's 177 runs, and removed Joe Scuderi as he looked to be steering Nelson towards their victory target.

In dismissing Scuderi for 60, Kreusch was given considerable help by a one-handed wonder catch from captain Paul Blackledge, but he also clean bowled Danny Kegg for a duck in the same over.

Haslingden cricket chairman Stuart Taylor said: "Justin is a trier and has a great attitude, the lads enjoy playing with him.

"He is going to let us know this week if he is available for the final, but if he is he will be playing.

"Getting Joe Scuderi was always the key because if you don't, you lose. But Paul took a great catch and we were always in control from then on.

"I thought we were 20 or 30 runs short, even though it was never a batting wicket, but the bowlers came up trumps.

"I thought Nelson were the favourites but the lads bowled straight, kept it on line and length and pulled it out of the bag."

When Scuderi was dismissed Nelson were still 58 runs short with four wickets remaining and despite a late 31 by pro Cameron Cuffy, when he was stumped by John Simpson off the bowling of Alan Howarth they were 18 runs behind on 159.

Stuart Catterall took 3-29 and Howarth 2-23. In Haslingden's innings, Catterall provided 21 late runs, Andrew Smith made 33, while Stuart Lemon was the pick of the bowlers with 4-47.

Taylor is wary of Haslingden's final opponents Lowerhouse, fowllowing their Lancashire League meeting on Satruday.

He added: 'They scored 218 off 30 overs and it wasn't one of our better bowling performances.

"They are a young side and have never won a trophy so will be really up for it."

The final will be on Sunday, August 8, with the draw for who has home advantage being made on Wednesday.
