BURNLEY boss Steve Cotterill has made his second swoop into the transfer market.

Cotterill has formally agreed terms with the First Division player after weeks of tough negotiations.

But tantalisingly, Clarets fans must wait another week before learning the identity of the star, who was another of his top targets after being appointed Burnley boss.

Cotterill said: "I have agreed to sign somebody, and as far as I'm concerned it's the bargain of the season.

"But unfortunately I have to keep that one under wraps for another week or so.

"Everything has been sorted, but for reasons I can't give away at the moment we need to keep things quiet for a little while.

"That person could well be here when we start pre-season training on Thursday, but we may have to wait a touch longer.

"It's all signed and sealed. We just can't deliver for another seven to ten days."

With his second signing in the bank, Cotterill has now turned his attentions to his third target - another established First Division player who he held initial talks with yesterday.

And with pre-season training starting later this week, the Clarets chief is hoping his negotiating skills again pay dividends.

He added: "I have now got the first two signings I have been chasing since day one and a lot of hard work has gone into securing them.

"I also met somebody else on Sunday morning and if I can get that third player, I have finally started to rebuild my team.

"If I got him, then there is probably one more player I can bring in - a speculate to accumulate signing. Then, that will be us.

"I want to get together a good team because if we win games, the crowds go up and my budget goes up and I can strengthen again.

"I want a team first, not a squad. I don't want ten players on huge wages who will not be good enough."
