NOT even the mighty Wayne Rooney could stop the crowds from turning up to see Bacup opera star Sean Ruane's latest performance.
Sean took part in a recording of the popular Radio 2 show -- Friday Night is Music Night at London's Mermaid Theatre on Thursday - the same night Rooney and his England team-mates were taking on Croatia at Euro 2004 in Portugal.
"I feared we may be performing to a half-empty theatre because of the clash with the football," Sean said.
"But there were people queuing round the block to get in. It was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the night. Then when we heard the result it was the icing on the cake."
The show was broadcast the following night.
