A TEENAGER was found hanging at his former primary school, an inquest heard.
Nikki Gavin Reynolds, aged 19 of Richmond Drive, Leigh, was found hanging from a storeroom door with a length of electrical flex around his neck following a minor disagreement with his girlfriend in January. He was overheard crying, while talking to his girlfriend on the phone by his grandparents, with whom he had lived since the age of 11 months.
Mr Reynolds, who played for Leigh Cricket Club, was found the following day at nearby St Gabriel's Primary School.
Coroner Jennifer Leeming said the evidence suggested that Mr Reynolds had struggled in an attempt to free himself. She redcorded a verdict of accidental deathand said: "People will sometimes take an action to demonstrate that they are upset, particularly involving ligatures."
The talented cricketer, had been found sat on the floor with his shoulders against the door with his shoes partly on his feet.
He had been drinking in a "moderate" amount before his death. He was found with a knife in his pocket, which his family believe he may have carried in order to free himself from the ligature.
Mr Reynolds' grandfather, Gerald, said: "You could not have asked for a nicer lad. He was just a good teenager who would be helpful to anyone."
