TRIBUTES have been paid to a nurse who died after the motorbike she was travelling on collided with a car.

Pillion passenger Angela Townsend, aged 47, of William Street, Radcliffe, was killed on Sunday evening as she travelled along the clockwise carriageway of the M60 on the back of a Honda motorbike.

Police said the machine collided with a Toyota Yaris, driven by a 25-year-old man from Radcliffe, as it changed lanes near to Junction 17 for Whitefield.

Ms Townsend, who had a 17-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter, was thrown from the bike and suffered fatal injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 34-year-old rider of the bike, from Manchester, was also injured in the accident and was taken to Hope Hospital, Salford, to be treated for serious injuries.

Police today described his condition as stable.

Today, her devastated family described her as a lovely woman liked by everyone who met her.
