BLACKBURN'S clergy successfully opposed an application for cinemas to open on Sundays.
The application was made by Blackburn's Sunday Cinema association, but at a meeting of the Blackburn Watch Committee their proposals were rejected.
Mr Stayon, of Blackburn Federation Free Church Council, said that the committee had failed to prove that there was a demand for cinema at the weekends and on Sundays in particular.
