A CAT lover who rescues abandoned cats and kittens in the Darwen area has pleaded with people to have their pets neutered.

Maureen Savage, who runs Moggies Cat Rescue, is currently having to care for 34 kittens and some pregnant cats.

She said: "I desperately want people to think again and get cats neutered to stop this influx of dumped kittens which is a nightmare.

"I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall.

"I don't mind travelling a little way to help people out. If anyone as far as Burnley or Nelson has a cat or kitten older than five months, male or female, which needs neutering they can ring me and I will sort it out for them.

"I'd also urge people with kittens not to hand them to someone down the street because some of them are bound to end up in a 'rescue' somewhere.

"If they ring me I can put them in touch with a rescue centre nearer to them and help them find a good home for them."

Maureen can be contacted on 01254 708171 after 6pm.
