WHITEFIELD and Unsworth Area Board gets back to work this week with a new chairman.
The first area board meeting after the elections will take place on Thursday at Elms Community Centre, Green Lane, Whitefield, from 7pm.
Coun Joan Grimshaw, who was elected for Unsworth ward, will take over as chairman from Coun Alan Matthews, who still represents Besses. Coun Matthews oversaw the setting up of area boards and has been chairman for four years.
Coun Grimshaw said: "It's going to be a hard act to follow but I'm looking forward to my new role."
The agenda features discussions on speed cameras and road safety, a policing update, youth issues and grants for community activities.
The community centre is situated in Green Lane, Whitefield.
