LANCASHIRE Evening Telegraph journalist Clare Cook has been shortlisted for a national award.

Clare is one of six people from all over Britain nominated for the title of Reporter of the Year in the Regional Press Awards 2004.

Her entry centred on a detailed investigation in France into the death of former Darwen woman Evelyn Lund, whose body was found in her car at the bottom of a lake.

It included an exclusive interview with the husband who reported her missing 22 months earlier and admitted he has been a "prime suspect."

Lancashire Evening Telegraph editor Kevin Young said: "Clare's series was a great piece of journalism and she thoroughly deserves this accolade."

The series has already resulted in Clare's nomination as News Reporter of the Year in the North West Newspaper Awards to be announced at Wigan's JJB Sports Stadium this Friday .

Fellow Lancashire Evening Telegraph journalists Andy Neild and Clive Lawrence are also shortlisted respectively in the Sports Reporter of the Year and Photographer of the Year categories of these North West awards.
