MOTORISTS could avoid heavy fines for dirty exhaust fumes by having their cars checked at a Cleaner Vehicles roadshow in Bury on Friday.
The roadshow is on the Market Car Park in Spring Street, Bury, from 10am to 3pm, and will offer free exhaust tests before official roadside testing gets underway.
The event is part of the Cleaner Vehicles campaign which is encouraging , which aims to reduce harmful fumes and improve air quality by encouraging motorists to make sure their vehicles are properly tuned and maintained.
Drivers will soon be issued with a £60 fixed penalty notice if fumes from their car exceed the legal emissions standard.
Motorists can have their vehicles tested at the roadshow, where they will not be fined if it fails the test.
