A WORKSHOP is being held in Pendle for people interested in helping to improve tolerance and community understanding in the borough.

It takes place at Brierfield Community Centre, on Tuesday, July 6, at 6pm, and is being hosted by consultants Drew Mackie Associates who are doing a study into community cohesion on behalf of Pendle Partnership.

This has involved interviewing a wide range of people involved in promoting unity in Pendle and have been running with schools, parish councils and community groups.

This event will give people the opportunity to help shape the consultants' findings, which will form part of Pendle's Community Strategy.

Mohammed Ishaq, Chair of Pendle Partnership's Community and Social Inclusion Key Priority Group said: "There is already a lot of good work going on in Pendle to break down the barriers between communities, but more needs to be done.

"Drew Mackie's work will help us to make Pendle a truly tolerant place. This is a top priority of the Community and Social Inclusion Key Priority Group."

The event will finish by 8.30pm with drinks and snacks from 6pm to 6.30pm.

To confirm a place at the workshop, and for further information, contact Sarah Astin on 01282 661771 or email sarah.astin@pendle.gov.uk by 12pm on the day of the workshop
