PUPILS from Darwen Vale High School have beaten off competition from three other schools in the Blackburn and Darwen area to win the 2004 Pathfinder Enterprise shield.
Their idea of setting up a jewellery business was a great success and they made more money from their business than any of their rivals.
Pupils gave a presentation to a panel of business experts and then went on to set up and run their own business, going head to head with teams from Witton Park High and St Bede's, both Blackburn.
The winning team comprised teenagers Struan Cruickshanks, Matthew Minogue, Kelly Kellett, Kelly Hemingway and Tanya Eaton.
The Pathfinder Enterprise, which is a Government scheme, focuses on developing pupils' skills and attitudes towards business.
