A CLIMBER was recovering in hospital today after suffering serious injuries in a fall at Troy Quarry in Haslingden.
The 45-year-old man was in a group of climbers at the well-known spot off Grane Road when he fell about 25ft, sustaining injuries to his head and fractures to both legs.
He was taken to Fairfield General Hospital in Bury where he was due to undergo surgery last night.
The accident happened at about 8.30pm yesterday.
Emergency services were called by the group, which included the man's daughter, and the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were scrambled.
Team leader Dave Barrington said: "The man was in a group when he fell and landed on his legs suffering fractures to both legs.
"He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital by ambulance."
Around 24 members of the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, which relies on voluntary donations, were involved in the rescue.
