FISHING at the Jumbles Reservoir, Edgworth, was threatened with a ban after angry anglers threw a warden into the water.
Anglers intent on taking up to 60 trout a time in raids on the reservoir flung the warden into the water after he had tried to stop them.
Although the local authority had stocked the water with 2,000 trout, over-fishing meant that there was almost none left.
