BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness believes the club's new Spanish winger Javier De Pedro will be a striker's dream next season.

The former Real Sociedad wide-man, who joined Rovers on a free earlier this summer, is set to meet up with his new team-mates for the first time later this week.

And Souness is already excited by the prospect of the 30-year-old supplying a steady stream of ammunition for the likes of Jon Stead, Andy Cole and Paul Dickov over the coming months after finally ending his search for a genuine left-sided midfield player to fill the void left by Damien Duff.

"De Pedro is a class act. He can put a ball on a six-pence from 50 yards away and I think our strikers are going to enjoy playing with him next season," purred Souness.

"He'll be a supplier of goals and he'll also score them himself, too, especially from set-pieces.

"He takes a mean corner with his left-foot and we should benefit from that as a team.

"It's just a case of how quickly it takes him to adjust to the Premiership but he's a player with international experience and I expect him to grasp it quickly.

"When I met him for the first time he showed a great determination to succeed over here.

"After falling out with Real Sociedad, he feels he's got something to prove next season and I'm looking forward to seeing him in action."

De Pedro was a regular in the Real Sociedad team and he has also appeared for the Spanish national team on a number of occasions in the past.

Now Souness hopes he will sparkle in the Premiership as he looks to inject more craft into Rovers' midfield.

Meanwhile, Rovers have dismissed a story linking them with a bid for the Rangers defender Craig Moore.

Sources in Scotland claimed Rovers were ready to bid £1.5 million for the Gers skipper but Leeds United defender Dominic Matteo remains Souness's prime target.

In the meantime, seven of Rovers' Premiership fixtures are to be shown live on SKY TV during the first half of the season.

Rovers' first appearance before the cameras is on Pay Per View for the trip to Southampton on Saturday August 21 (kick off 12.45pm), swiftly followed by the visit of Manchester United on Saturday August 28 (12.45pm).

The other five games to feature are: Charlton away Monday September 27 (kick off 8pm), Liverpool at home on Saturday October 30 (5.15pm), Birmingham City at home on Sunday November 21 (4.05pm), Fulham away on Saturday November 27 (12.45pm), and Spurs at home on Saturday December 4 (5.15pm).
