Blackburn Rovers have done a deal with Tottenham Hotspur to promote replica kits and other memorabilia for their Premiership rivals.

The Ewood club's own design agency, Touch Communications, has been commissioned to produce a catalogue for all the Spurs merchandise on sale at White Hart Lane and its other sports outlets.

Director Simon Williams believes the deal represents a coup for the agency, which has made its name promoting the Blackburn Rovers brand and selling the club to its supporters.

"We are very excited about working with another Premiership club," said Simon, whose father John is Rovers' chief executive. "We hope it will be the springboard for more contracts with other leading sporting organisations."

The agency's creative team is now working on the designs for the Spurs merchandise brochure and point-of-sale material for the club's shops.

According to Simon, there are no problems with Touch working for the competition. "Tottenham know all about our relationship with Rovers," he said. "We are not competing in terms of fans and Rovers will be happy with anything we can add to the bottom line here."

Touch set up a specialist sports marketing division, Fanatic, to sell the expertise it has built up working for Blackburn Rovers.
