FORMER Blackburn with Darwen Council leader Sir Bill Taylor has expressed his thanks to those who have offered support since his election defeat.
Sir Bill, who lost his Audley seat on June 11, said it has been a testing time since then.
Six Labour councillors defected in the days after the election, throwing the council into turmoil, have since helped vote in a Labour administration at Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Sir Bill said: "My family and friends have been a great source of support and solace. Not just old friends but the many new ones that I didn't know I had.
"Thanks also to the people in the street, who have taken the trouble to approach me and say something, often just a small few words. They made a real impact.
"These have been a most welcome and unexpected source of strength."
Sir Bill said he had also received many cards, letters, text messages and e-mails.
