AN Earby pub has won its second award from the East Lancs branch of CAMRA, being named Pub of the Year for 2004.

The Red Lion, in Red Lion Street, will be presented with the award on August 14. The pub also won a Pub of the Season award in 2003.

The CAMRA awards are decided at monthly branch meetings by members who vote on the basis of beer quality only.

But members are also keen to support pubs which sell hand-pulled mild or which support a local brewery, offer guest real ales or put on beer festivals.

Janet Taylor, who has run the Red Lion with her husband Bill for two years, said: "It's great to win this award especially after winning an award last year too for pub of the season. They must really like our beer!"
