A 20-YEAR-OLD man has said he will stop going out in Blackburn town centre after being attacked for the second time in five months.

The latest assault left James Collins with the imprint of a boot on his back.

James, of Surrey Road, Whitebirk, Blackburn, received injuries to his face, back, legs, ribs and kidneys, after the incident at 11pm on Saturday night, in an alley near Northgate.

James, who works at at Rockdoor door manufacturers, Shadsworth Industrial Estate, was allowed home yesterday from Blackburn Infirmary, where he underwent treatment, but he will need an operation on his broken nose.

His shocked mum Gayle Henley today spoke of her horror at the sickening attack on James.

She said he was also assaulted during an attack in a nightclub during a night out on February 14 this year with his girlfriend when he received facial injuries.

She said: "We have no idea why these attacks have happened but something needs to be done. James is a good lad who's never been in trouble.

"He is one of the lads and will bounce back but he has told me this has put him off going out because he doesn't know what he is going to be up against. He is just a mess.

"When I went to the hospital I was really sickened when he lifted his shirt and you could see the imprint of a boot on his back.

"It is bad enough to kick and punch someone. But to stamp on them is sickening."

DC Keith Rimmer, of Blackburn CID, said: "James has not been able to tell us about what happened. He can't recollect the incident.

"We're asking for people who were in the area to come forward with information.

"We understand two women may have seen what happened, according to one of his friends. We're also looking at CCTV pictures which will hopefully give us some clues."

During the assault, James had his gold bracelet worth £300 and a gold neck chain worth £200 taken.
