THE issues which will help mould the future of Pendle for the next 10 years are set to be discussed tonight.
Proposed boundary changes and a new sports pitch at Park High School in Colne are set up will be among the key issues when the Local Plan is discussed by Pendle Council's executive at Nelson Town Hall.
Following a consultation period on the proposals, councillors will thrash out recommendations made by planning officers affecting future developments in the environment, community, recreation and leisure and town centres and retail developments.
During the consultation the council received 600 objections to the Local Plan and nearly 500 letters of support.
Christine Douglas, the council's planning policy manager, said planning officers will put forward recommendations at tonight's meeting.
Councillors will vote to accept these recommendations, for further negotiations to take place or decide no action be taken. If this happens a decision could be made at a public inquiry.
She said: "Hopefully from what we have done we hope the members accept our recommendations.
"However, it is not a closed door. People can object again against decisions made when the plan is in the deposit stage, which we hope will be November.
"The meeting will deal with the objections we want to make changes on.
"One of the main proposals is the proposed allocation for a new sports pitch, at Park High School, in Colne.
"This has being quite a contentious one because we have received a lot of objections," she added.
