THE council's highly trained cemetery staff who decide headstones in Darwen's old cemetery are dangerous, are the very same people who are responsible for the situation because of decades of neglect.
If someone purchased a plot of land and paid for perpetuity, the council should honour the contract and maintain the grave forever plus one day.
I think it is a deliberate ploy by the council to steal land.
I also noticed there were no park benches for the visitors and then I suddenly realised I was in Darwen, which explained everything.
F CROMPTON (Mr), Lightbown Street, Darwen.
