A RADCLIFFE business became a film set last week, as comedian Peter Kay arrived to shoot scenes for his new series.
The Radcliffe Tyre Centre, on Radcliffe Moor Road, was used as a garage for his Phoenix Nights spin-off comedy show.
Road to Nowhere is due to be screened later this year, and the comedian, who lives in Ainsworth, had been on the lookout for a garage to stage the scenes in for months.
Owner Antonio Giomarelli allowed the cast and crew to use his garage for two days, on Thursday and Friday last week.
He said: "He approached us a few months ago to do some filming here. We were only too happy to let him come along.
"We had to close for the two days because it was so busy around here but we didn't mind. They changed the whole look of the place with boards and signs."
Peter, who is directing as well as starring in the production, even changed the name of the popular pub across the road from the Sparking Clog to the Sparking Plug.
Neighbours and passers-by stood around watching the filming which took place between noon to midnight each day.
Nearby resident Lynn Sharples said: "There were different groups of people standing around in crowds the whole time they were filming. But everyone was watching Peter.
"They took hours of film just for a few minutes of the programme. I'm looking forward to seeing it now when it's on the television."
