THE driver of a vehicle involved in a two-car accident on the A59, near Langho, has been arrested after fleeing the scene.
Police were alerted to the 27-year-old's erratic driving by a concerned jogger, who had called police on his mobile phone.
The man, who was accompanied in the Mazda MX3 car by his girlfriend, collided with a female motorist driving a Honda Civic at the roundabout prior to the junction with the Petrie Arms, on Tuesday night.
After smashing into the other driver, the couple made a run for it to a nearby field, where they were overheard by the same jogger, calling for a friend to pick them up on their mobile phone.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of stealing a vehicle, of driving while disqualified and breathalysed him at the scene.
Both cars were severely damaged in the bump and the female driver was treated for seat belt injuries at Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
A police spokesman today praised the jogger for their help, saying: "We are really grateful to the jogger who assisted in finding our dangerous driver.
"It was a good job the driver was stopped before he caused a serious incident."
