THE BLUES
IAN Wright is set to lead a host of legends paying tribute Stan Ternent at the former Burnley manager's testimonial match next month.
A Manchester United side led by Sir Alex Ferguson will face the current Clarets squad on the prestigious Turf Moor gala night, which will take place on Tuesday, August 17.
And former Clarets striker Wright tops a list of VIP guests that reads like a Who's Who of footballing legends.
It will be the first time ex-England ace Wright has returned to Turf Moor since he famously helped Ternent's Clarets win promotion to Division One four years ago.
Premiership managers David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce, along with Ternent's close friend Peter Reid, will also be making guest appearances.
Other famous names turning out to pay tribute include managers Dave Jones, Bobby Saxton and Paul Jewell.
Former Clarets stars on show for Ternent include Brian Flynn, Frank Casper, Willie Morgan, Mitchell Thomas, Steve Kindon, Peter Noble and more yet to be announced.
There will also be a special guest appearance by the legendary former scout Jack Hixon, who discovered Alan Shearer and a whole catalogue of former Clarets stars, including Ternent.
The tribute evening is Burnley chairman Barry Kilby's reward to Ternent for 10 years of service as both a player and manager.
But Ternent is adamant that Burnley Football Club should benefit by earning a substantial chunk of all monies raised on the night.
Ternent added: "I'm flattered that football legends like Sir Alex and Ian Wright are coming to support me.
"It will be nice to be surrounded by so many of the friends I have made over the past 40 years."
Prices for the testimonial night are £16 (adults) and £6 (concessions) with tickets going on sale in the near future.

Meanwhile, Ternent's successor Steve Cotterill continues to prepare his Burnley side for the new season with a Turf Moor friendly against Everton tonight (7.30pm).
Striker Ian Moore definitely misses the game after picking up an ankle injury in the weekend clash with Dundee United.
Goalkeeper Brian Jensen has picked up an ankle injury that makes him a doubt, while trialist defender Dave Walton will not feature after returning to Derby County following one fleeting appearance.
Cotterill, who is still hoping to add one more name to the squad that flies out to Austria this weekend, said: "We will try a different formation tonight and I'm looking forward to the game.
"It should be a good test for us because Everton are a quality side with some very good players.
"It will be a good chance for the fans to see Micah Hyde and Danny Coyne make their debuts and I'm sure the fans will enjoy the game."
Admission at Turf Moor tonight in all areas is £10 (adults) and £5 (concessions).
