POLICE have named the man who died after dousing himself in petrol and setting himself alight.
David Guest, of Lower Ebor Street, York, turned up at the house of his estranged wife in Rectory Close, Newchurch, carrying a petrol can just after 3pm on Tuesday.
He then emptied the contents on himself before hysterical neighbours phoned the police saying he was on fire.
It is not known whether he deliberately set himself on fire but police said he was known to them as being suicidal and had doused himself in petrol before.
They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
