THE battle between two Prestwich schools for a prime piece of land is still being fought out.
Park View Primary School and the Manchester Jewish Grammar School both want the former adult education centre in Thorndyke Walk, which is moving its services into the town's library in the autumn.
Park View is one of the largest primaries around, and wants the site to increase its leisure facilities.
However, the grammar school, currently based in Charlton Avenue, is becoming a voluntary aided high school in Bury's "family of schools", and wants to build an all-weather pitch as part of its plans for a new £5.4 million school.
The Guide understands that the council would receive around £100,000 if it gave the site to the new high school.
Councillors at Wednesday's (July 21) executive again deferred making a decision, hoping that the schools can come to an agreement over the site.
