VOLUNTEERS who learned the ground rules in a selection of new sports have notched up a good result.
Youth Works Whitefield, gave a team of ten young people, residents and community workers the chance to learn more about community activities.
With support from the organisation "Exercise Your Choice", training was provided in a range of activities such as street dancing, skateboarding, basketball and softball.
The aim is to ensure that young people they meet can learn about a wider variety of sports and activities than usual.
Certificates and work books for future activities were presented to participants who completed the training at the Shuttle Centre, Albert Road.
They were handed out by Groundwork Trust executive director Mr Paul Haunch, whose organisation were also involved.
Youth Works programme manager Shaun Gill, who was one of those to receive a certificate, said: "It's all about getting people to take part in things that they might not do otherwise."
