THE Howarth family have rewritten Leigh Harriers' Club records.
In the space of one hour, three records tumbled to the Howarth power competing at Stretford's Longford Park.
Fourteen-year-old Lauren Howarth ran in her last race before she competes in the English Schools Track and Field Championships at Gateshead.
Competing in the u/15 girls 800 metres, Lauren beat the record of 2.23.3 seconds set in 1985, clocking a time of 2.21.8 seconds, winning in a photo finish.
Rebecca Howarth, who's confidence has visibly grown since winning the silver medal in the Northern Championships, broke the u/17 ladies' 800 metres record time of 2.21.5 which has stood since 1981 with a time of 2.18.5 seconds.
John Howarth, not to be outdone by his daughters, set about challenging the u/40 men's 800 metres record of 2.06.2 seconds which has stood since 1993.
On a good night for running, John sailed past the mark with a new record time of 2.04.9 seconds.
This is a unique part of Leigh Harriers history and will be hard to beat unless they do it again!
