JUNIOR poet Duncan Boyter helped his school to a prize winning double when he scored top marks in a big contest.
He was awarded the overall prize in the primary section of Wigan Council's Poetry Competition to add to the overall prize his school, Leigh Sacred Heart, scooped last year.
The school's new double glazed windows were used to inspire the pupils to write poems on the theme "Through a Window".
Duncan read out his winning work "Refenestration - The Word of the Month" at a presentation ceremony at Aspull Civic Hall when Ian McMillan, the bard of Barnsley, presented the prizes.
Head teacher, Mr J B Travis, said: "The school won the overall prize last year so we were thrilled when Duncan's poem was selected."
