DOZENS of people braved the rain last weekend to enjoy a sailing open day in Leigh.
Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club opened its doors for people to test their sea legs and have a go at sailing at Pennington Flash last Saturday.
People aged five to 50 enjoyed hours of fun, as trained instructors took them out on sailing lessons in a variety of different dinghies.
Despite the torrential rain, organisers hailed the day as a massive success - with a clutch of wannabe sailors signing up to become members with the club.
Sailing Club Vice-Commodore Caroline Exley, said: "The event was an overwhelming success. We had several people signing up to become members and many more wanting to come back and have more lessons. The biggest success and reward for everyone who gave up their time was undoubtedly the smiling faces of people coming off the water."
Vice-Commodore Exley wished to thank all the volunteers who took part in the event and helped make it a success.
