AN OUTDOOR production of one of Oscar Wilde's most famous plays, The Importance of Being Earnest, will be staged at Samlesbury Hall, Preston, on Wednesday, August 4.
Professional theatre group, C'est Tous, based in Eccleston, near Leyland, are certain to keep audiences entertained with this adaptation of one of Wilde's most controversial plays.
Wilde goes to town on the establishment of the day and the pretensions and shallowness of his upper class characters in this amazing comedy.
The ingredients include eight bottles of the finest champagne, a large plate of cucumber sandwiches, a bachelor's establishment in 1890s West London and a country residence not in Shropshire!
Then there is Mr Worthing who is Jack in the country and Earnest in the city while his friend, Mr Moncrieff, is Algernon in the city and Earnest in the country! Add two upper class young female socialites, Gwendolin and Cecily, a two handled black handbag, one ferocious Lady Bracknell and mix well with a large sprinkling of sparkling spontaneous wit, then you have it!
Tickets, including a pre-show talk by the artistic director, can be booked on 01257-453956.
