BURY has a well-established medical, surgical, out-patient and special needs service and it is utter folly to suggest that our sick children will "benefit" from having to travel to other towns to obtain treatment.
If need be, why not provide a service with a smaller in-patient unit combined with community care? But this must be with 24-hour in-patient care to provide the safest possible environment for our sick children.
Why spend £500,000 - as proposed - on a transport system to transfer sick children to other towns when it cannot guarantee a safe, speedy transfer due to the traffic congestion in this area?
Bury's children deserve better.
