A DEVASTATING display of swing bowling by professional Stephen John brought Chorley success in the Northern Premier League.
John claimed seven wickets for eight runs in 11 overs as St Annes were dismissed for just 35 as Chorley wrapped up a maximum 15 points win in double-quick time at Vernon Road.
After putting their visitors in to bat, St Annes must have been well satisfied in bowling Chorley out for 137, but then they suffered a stunning collapse.
Darwen had to settle for an eight point return from a winning draw with Preston in the league on Saturday.
However, it did not upset their title aspirations as they made up ground on leaders Netherfield, who were beaten by Fleetwood.
But there was more joy for them yesterday as they beat Preston by seven wickets in the Thwaites Smooth Cup.
