FAST-EXPANDING chocolates and sweets manufacturer Glisten has been on the takeover trail again with the purchase of House of York.
The Blackburn-based company has bought the specialist toffee-maker in a £120,000 deal - its fourth acquisition in the past 12 months. Production of its 'swirl' and 'bonfire' toffees will be switched to Glisten's factories in Blackburn and Skegness.
Announcing the deal, chairman Jeremy Hamer said it would add £500,000 a year to sales.
Glisten makes chocolate, confectionery, edible decorations and confectionery ingredients. It serves a wide variety of customers, including many high street retailers, major food manufacturers, the food service sector and export markets.
Products include chocolate-coated raisins, peanuts and brazils as well as mint imperials, popcorn, mini-eggs, sugar-coated almonds.
Mr Hamer said: "This gives us confidence that we can look forward to another good year. The House of York asset purchase adds to our capabilities in terms of toffee manufacture and gives us access to some interesting retail and export customers."
