LANCASHIRE Ambulance Services are to provide a new paging system for vehicles that are left with them for servicing.

For over 10 years the ambulance service has provided servicing and maintenance to businesses and the public from its four vehicle service centres in Lancashire.

It relies on utilising spare space within its ambulance maintenance operations to provide the service and all of the income is reinvested into the Trust.

The centres now offer a free paging service in its commitment to providing a quality service. The pager does not cost anything to loan but it allows them to alert car owners when their car is ready or contact the owners if a complication arises.

Phil Woodford, general manager for the commercial services directorate, said: "If we need to contact a customer to seek authorisation for additional work, or let them know that their vehicle is ready, it can prove to be difficult. Paging is very reliable and discreet."
