BURY Council's website has rocketed up a national league table for the accessibility of local authority websites.
It is now rated fourth best in the country, up from last year's 207th place, by computing experts Sitemorse in the June 2004 UK Local Council Web Sites Report.
The company's software tests every combination of every page and identifies problems, the speed of the site, and e-government compliance.
Alison Annable, the council's head of IT, said: "This survey shows that the Bury Council website is being built on firm foundations and everything we do to enhance the site can be assured of greater reliability and efficiency because of that."
