A NEW police and community partnership aimed at getting residents involved in tackling their own neighbourhood problems is set to be launched in Darwen.
The scheme, called PACT (Police and Community Together), will give residents the opportunity to have their say on policing in the area.
A meeting will be held at Earcroft Community Base, Blackburn Road, tomorrow at 6.30pm to explain the partnership to residents.
It will target areas such as Belgrave, Avondale, Birch Hall, Anchor and Hollins Grove and the police want as many people as possible to get involved.
The meeting will be led by community beat managers PC John Sergeant and PC Angela Paxton but local councillors are also expected to attend.
PC Sergeant said: "It's a new system the police are setting up to try to involve the community in solving the problems. People can come and speak to the police and the councillors and any other interested community members.
"We hope we can solve their problems for them within a given timescale."
