A 36-YEAR-OLD man has died after a fatal epilepsy seizure while on a trial medication, an inquest heard.
Cairns Andrew Gregson, of Shuttle Close, Accrington died at his home in the early hours of May 24.
But after hearing the drugs had not played a part in Mr Gregson's death, Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley coroner Michael Singleton recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
Mr Gregson's fiancee Lesley McBride said she found Mr Gregson, a soldier, at about 5am and phoned an ambulance. She said appointments with specialists had been cancelled to monitor the effectiveness of the trial drug, Keppra. Miss McBride said: "His fits were not well controlled with this new drug and we were really worried."
She told the inquest how various appointments to carry out brain scans were postponed and added: "We rang up and sometimes we couldn't get through."
