CLITHEROE Golf Club is still buzzing over the events of last Wednesday when the midweek medal produced a course record and TWO holes-in-one.

Club champion Mark Ashworth broke the course record with a flawless 63 while both Geoff Sutcliffe and Jonathon Dugdale struck aces.

Ashworth's knock still wasn't good enough for him to win the competition, however, as he had to add his plus one handicap to the score to make 64 net, three behind Steve Cherry.

Although Cherry hit an 81 gross, his 20 handicap gave him the first prize with Ahsworth having to settle for runner-up.

Dugdale hit his hole-in-one on the eighth, with Sutcliffe striking his on the 17th.

William Child took the honours in the junior medal with a two under net 69, three shots ahead of the consistent Richard Tyrrell leaving Jordan Cook one shot behind in third.

The pristine condition of the golf course was further confirmed at the weekend with another flurry of good scores, none better than Wayne Townley's return of a net 61 to take the Jubilee Plate. Andrew Heesom was again knocking at the door, taking second place with a net 67.

Mark Jones with 68 was one shot ahead of Peter Pedder in third, leaving a posse of golfers on one under 70s. Miles Wade got the nod on the cards over Derek Marsh, Paul Connolly and Bill Farnworth.

But Ashworth took the honours again for the gross prize, with 71.
