CANOEING along canals is being offered to 11-21 year-olds as part of a Positive Futures Outdoor Education team programme.
Trained staff will teaching canoeing and kayak safely and will highlight how canals are used by industry and about their importance to tourism.
The canalside programme, which is supported by British Waterways and Wigan Council, includes over 20 sessions until the end of August at locations including Butts Bridge and Plank Lane in Leigh.
Team manager Eric Bradbury said: "Canalside not only provides young people with something fun and exciting to do over the summer holidays, it is also an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and a chance to appreciate what a fantastic resource our canals are.
"We've had a decent turnout at the three sessions we've held so far and they've all been really enjoyable. However, we're keen to get as many involved as possible and I'd encourage all young people to give it a go."
