BOLTON Intermediate side once again proved too strong for interleague rivals Bury in a fabulous display of Bolton's best 18-25 year olds.The game was won by 165-95 with Bolton having an innings to spare.
Bury lost five players for no score in the first round and Lyndsey Roy was the only batter to get into double figures with 14 runs.
Kirsty Atherton opened the batting for Bolton and went on to score 29 runs, with Claire Russell 22, Gail Nicholson 22, Abbey Mort 19 and Kate Steel 14.
Bury entered the arena for a second time to face a determined Bolton side, who produced a fantastic team performance dismissing the Bury side for 48 runs.
Bolton now lead the series 5-2 with the seniors still to play.
Apollo Ladies made the escape of the season against Widdows Mason in Section C, Widdows batted first scoring 63 then promptly dismissed Apollo for 15 taking six players for no score, Widdows ever consistant scored 62 and must have thought they have the game won with Apollo needing to score 111 runs to take the points.
A spirited fight back then ensued as Gemma Tague scored 25, abley assisted by Sharon Aspinall with 23, Carole Ashworth17 and Kath Pearson14, for a team total of 115, which left Apollo the winners by five runs.
Varnish Industries lost touch with K section leaders Starlight X1 when they were beaten by Kearsley CC. Eunice Gudojc with 56, Diane Johnson 34 and Jenny Parkinson topped the scores in a 243-178 win.
It was a good week for Kearsley who also beat MSJ in the semi-final of the Pike Shield. They will face a Wellington X1 in the final who defeated St Teresa's in a close match 102-97. Wellington were not so lucky in the league as they dropped to second place after Pineappple X1 beat them 182-118.
Section E leaders Dale X1 went down to Lower Pools this week Donna O'Brienwith 39, Kath Hulme39 and Helen Blinkhorn35 helping the team to a 181(1)-156 win.
Bolton Senior Interleague team take on Bury in the last game of the series on Friday, July 30, at Elton Vale SC, 7pm start. The team is Jackie Pickering (capt), Sarah Gradwell, Joanne Mullard, Zoe Makin, Joanne Makin, Angela Booth, Debbie Booth, Sharon Prescott, Kerry Anderton, Justine Robinson and Sharon Buller.
Division One Furniture Dixon Shield semi-finals at Hulton Lane (Wednesday July 28 7pm): The Brierfield v Bradbury Ladies; Lower Pools X1 v Darcy Lever CSC C
Blackburn Shield semi-finals at Hulton Lane (Thursday July 29 7pm) The Bowling Green v Pike Ladies, Tonge Moor Ladies v K2 Ladies.
All matches from the August 1 to commence at 6.45pm.
