PLANS to build 90 new houses in Bacup look set to be backed by Rossendale Borough Council.
The proposals for brick-built detached, semi-detached and terrace houses on land off Rockliffe Road will go before the council's development control committee tonight.
Five letters of objection have been sent to the council by local residents concerned about the increase in traffic, parking problems in the area, and the proposed access to the site from Bold Street.
The Bacup Consortium believes that a smaller estate with 30 houses would be more acceptable on the site.
However, council planning officers have recommended that the plans are approved.
