A SHOP intruder was caught out after leaving his finger prints.
Burnley magistrates heard drug addict Andrew Woodrup, 23, claimed he had got into the One Stop Shop on King Street, Bacup, by an open fire exit - but the prosecution say he climbed in through a faulty toilet window.
He left empty handed.
Woodrup, of Alma Street, Bacup, who had a number of raids on his record and has been to jail, admitted burglary with intent to steal on June 27.
He was committed in custody to Burnley Crown Court for sentence.
Peter Wild, prosecuting, told the court the shop alarm went off at about 3.30am.
Scenes of crimes officers recovered fingerprints which were identified as the defendant's. Woodrup was arrested on July 27 and interviewed.
He told police he had been walking past the store when he saw the fire door slightly open.
The defendant said he decided to go in and steal something.
Abdul Khan, defending, said Woodrup had owned up at the first available opportunity.
The defendant had a heroin addiction and had been in and out of custody all his life.
He was meant to be released from jail on July 30 and had an appointment to attend a drug treatment unit in Accrington.
Mr Khan added jail did not work for Woodrup and did not deal with his habit.
He was a prime candidate for a drug treatment and testing order.
