NEWCHURCH WI paid tribute to former member Hilda Aston who died at the age of 91.
The craft group finished joint second in the Cheshire Federation Myths and Legends competition at the Cheshire show missing victory by just two points, and the quiz team fared well in the heats of the federation competition though they failed to reach the final.
Mrs A Weston spoke on "Aloe Vera, the Miracle Plant" and its various uses and the competition for a vegetable 'animal' was won by Mrs I Bromilow, followed by O Lee and E Williams.
The next meeting is on August 11 at 7.30pm in Newchurch Parish Hall when the talk will be "Life in the Orchestra". New members will be welcome.
