MARTIAL arts ace Shaun Hodson is offering a free holiday self defence course to high school children and women to help make them feel safer on the streets.

Leigh's Jaguar Thai Boxing Group chief instructor has answered a call from the two groups to organise the classes.

The course on August 7 at the Leigh Self Defence Studio will be based on a common sense approach to avoiding and reducing dangers, how to raise attention and the teaching of easy non-combative release and run moves.

Fifth dan Shaun, who has more than 20 years experience of martial arts, claims: "Past and present students have been in some very serious situations including attempted rape, muggings and bullying and have managed to get themselves out of trouble using techniques taught in the classes."

The course will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm at the studio just off Railway Road, Leigh, and places are limited. To book call Shaun or Sharon on 01942 675200.
