BOLTON Association leaders Elton had a reasonably successful weekend as they beat champions of two years ago Spring View, but yet again the awful weather scuppered their chances of playing Daisy Hill on Sunday.

Saturday's win meant the Leigh Lane club have completed the double against one of the league's most difficult sides to beat.

In the first fixture Darron Foy performed superbly; collecting 7 for 12 and chipping in with 30 vital runs.

Nobody could have asked him to repeat this feat, but the talented Foy went one better by taking an astonishing eight wickets!

His exploits helped Elton to restrict Spring View to a very 'gettable' 165 for 9.

Yet the talented all-rounder was not finished! To round the day off he also weighed in with an important knock of 45.

However, it was not just the Foy show at Leigh Lane last weekend. Elton's coach Damion Keegan maintained his good form by clattering an entertaining 31, while arguably the real batting hero was Michael Hall who played a calm and cool headed innings of 60 not out, which took his side over the line with overs to spare.

The win and the weather leaves Elton ten points ahead of challengers Atherton who they meet tomorrow for the biggest crunch game of the season.

The game will be evenly balanced as Elton have a stronger bowling attack, while Atherton possess arguably the batters in Neil Bannister, Karl Brown and Phil West.

Walshaw had professional Jon Fielding and Tony Kelly to thank for their 103-run victory at Blackrod on Saturday.

Kelly hit 83 in their tally of 216 for 5 while paid man Fielding added 55 before demolishing the reply with figures of 7 for 51.

The home side were never in the hunt and only a stubborn 35 from Jabir Namajee dragged out the innings before they were dismissed for 113.
