BATTING first at The Pollards, Unsworth lost opener John Paul Hean for two, stumped off the bowling of Smith.

However, a stand of 84 between skipper Paul Entwistle (41) and pro Robbie MacQueen (77) took the score to 92-2 off 30 overs.

A steady clatter of wickets marked the final 20 overs, as Oldham's South African pro Martin Smith finished with 5-51, as Unsworth struggled to reach 167 all out.

By contrast, the Oldham batsmen reached 32 before Chadwick (9) became the first of Alan Badenhorst's victims, as he went on to out-bowl fellow Bok Smith by one wicket, claiming six.

The runs then began to dry up for the home side, as they stuttered along, losing seven wickets for just 60 runs, with MacQueen chipping in with three wickets.

Only a spirited 18 from Bloor and 13 from Maher gave the home side any respectability, as they fell to 134 all out, giving Unsworth a much needed five point victory that keeps them in fourth spot in the table.
