FIREFIGHTERS had to use a special off-road vehicle to put out a burning car which had been set alight in the middle of a field.
A crew from Leigh Fire Station found that they could not get their vehicle on to land off Larch Road, Westleigh, to put out the fire at 7pm on Thursday night.
They had to call staff at Bolton North station, who turned out in the borough's only Pinzgauer off-road vehicle to tackle the blaze.
It is believed the car, which was destroyed in the fire, had been dumped and set alight after being stolen.
